I am a former party girl turned Republican. Running a bar keeps me close to the people. My days are crazy and so are my friends. A day in my life is never boring.Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comBlogger602125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-21796923513156903462009-01-16T09:26:00.000-08:002009-01-16T09:30:36.033-08:00Happy New Year! 2009 is looking to be a fasinating year. I bought a restaurant last June so I have not had a free moment since. The absolute worst time to buy such a business... so if I make it through these times and the begining of socialism.... maybe I'll be ok. Maybe. Trying to stay positive here.Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-14917462043683075162008-05-10T18:57:00.000-07:002008-05-10T18:59:39.171-07:00I've been working on getting www.devasbar.com website changed- should be up soon!Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-58262363078923027122008-03-24T11:09:00.000-07:002008-03-24T11:22:31.693-07:00It's been awhile- I know. I think this may be one of the busiest times in my life right now with regards to business. More on that as it develops.
Nothing like a little quote in the OC Register on a Monday morning to get myself motivated again:

This must be one of the craziest times politically. I want to blog and then everything changes before I can type. Then it just seems out-dated before I can hit the key board.

I do have to say that I have received some e-mails from people in Ohio that concern me. My friends are under the impression that they need to go out and vote "against Hillary!" in the primary. Hello! We need Hillary ( excuse me.....Senator Clinton) to get the Dem's nomination-- for a reason. Republicans are not going to be motivated to vote "4 McCain" at this time. They will, however, be encouraged to vote against her. If Obama (nobamba.com) gets the nomination, Repubs may just be inclined to sit this one out. Not good.Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-63010242506733996892008-02-12T17:08:00.000-08:002008-02-12T17:10:01.426-08:00As I promised...........

"Hi Lynette!"

Hope you are having a great day!Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-79447227362933444592008-02-05T11:43:00.000-08:002008-02-05T14:19:32.792-08:00Super Tuesday is here and believe it or not I have just decided who to vote for a few days ago. Glad I didn't vote early absentee- it would've been a wasted vote. I was surprised to see Rudy on the Jay Leno show last week. I still think he would've been our best choice to beat the Democrats. Now that Rudy is backing McCain I was going to support his choice. Well I do support his right to suck up to his old buddy and hopefully get cast in a top role should McCain actually win.

Our beloved Govenor Arnold, whom at one time I did support ( on national TV being blind sided by Bob Gibson on "The Big Show"......... if I had only had a clue about politics then,)turned out to be a major dissappointment. At least for Republicans, the Democrats have pajama parties with him up in Sacramento. A pillow fight is about the most we can expect out of the Jolly Green Giant. Which is exactly why we need to vote NO on 93!! We do not need several more years of Nunez and Perata. If anyone reads the LA Times ( yeah, I know, the opinion section is great for lining a bird cage,) they would learn how much trouble this dynamic duo is actually involved in.

Okay, back to my point. Romney is the best choice for true conservatives at this point. Never thought I'd type those words. These are very interesting political times, last Presidential campaign was pretty cut and dry. I didn't quite understand what the big deal was during the convention where each states delegates were announced for Bush. That may be the only moment that I actually yawned during my 10 days in New York. Now I get it. I also get the idea of conservatives actually sticking to the conservative candidate. If we keep electing "Arnold's" when we should've backed Tom McClintock we are losing the values that make us conservatives. I say conservatives because there seems to be so many candidates with an "R" next to their name that liberals embrace. Arnold is backing McCain, Arnold's wife is backing Obama. Big shocker there huh?

Personally I don't want to live in a socialist society. I went to France and it's lovely, I want to visit there again. "Visit" being the key word. I want to work for my living in a system that rewards that hard work. Otherwise what is the point of efforts to be successful? If you want everything handed to you go live in that form of society! Even the homeless get a monthly salary in France so they can buy wine and sit in their tents in the park brushing up on their writing & painting skills. Lovely for them if that's what they want. The problem is that France is figuring out they cannot sustain this system forever, there's only so much you can collect in taxes from the few people that are actually successful.

I'm voting YES on 94,95,96,&97.
I like playing slot machines. I don't like having my taxes increased! So, it just makes sense to me to vote Yes. If the state is going to get my money anyway, I might as well have fun giving it to them via the Indian tribes:)Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-44628214717107955352008-02-04T13:18:00.000-08:002008-02-04T13:36:00.938-08:00I ran out of time completing my last post so here are the highlights for now:

Vote NO on 93!

Vote for Mitt Romney! I did run into John Ziegler at the screening. I believe he did some research for the movie. I must say he's looking much less stressed these days. He had a piece in the OC Register on Friday.

http://www.ocregister.com/opinion/talk-immigration-radio-1971006-illegal-rushDevahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-37755291551430263422008-01-28T09:27:00.000-08:002008-01-28T09:32:31.384-08:00Check out this ad running in Florida for Rudy!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNxOcKVw9vE

Go Rudy 2008!Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-67516763976874793882008-01-24T23:18:00.001-08:002008-01-24T23:27:45.826-08:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxOXnC8v2lExrl70Yj_QF26bjTu8ilpPf5gzd1z1xrWLPlDizbSI987vRi_mHJPnCfXmnBeXEYMDcIvWngncoq3KFyIN1EkgtKfE6N3h3DzQ0_GieiKJNluoOiM75HEAFN7YmR/s320/rainbowpic.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159312378240109506" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqz2l55-07vKcGw0goKj77V-2XSiiDV1D3rY03947wPBmKqUvfhh8WRLkIrfcN5CzxO9UATRrCyd5-z9e2IQ25eBJjoBd9uogoL4HLWJOYTuVaoVwViHGbHOlLcR1RTARQQ0mc/s320/Rainbowpic2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159312382535076818" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmI-SVl_ajZxL3SoESa7dmok3468MALO6jDmVzkSvn3IuGAP0ltATySWA8Pu5zsAmAi9TXXdRf2367nR1jIa1xxsXoKbydN5Jz6d8ZAKdfQWQTxoKikITKHhzHdilQ3mrqc38m/s320/Rainbowpic3.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159312386830044130" />
The weather is really crazy for California right now. He was on KFI from 7pm-10pm Monday thru Friday before " mutually agreeing" to quit towards the end of last year. Apparently John & Ken are evil and contributed to the derailment of Ziegler's career. It may be only a sliver of the moon, but nonetheless refreshing considering I've been trapped inside attempting to stay dry most of last week.

I attended funeral services on Friday for George Stewart. He wrote for the Tustin News for 18 years and had a weekly column, "Two Cents." Just another reminder of how short life can be, he was only 57. George was very nice to me in print when I ran for Governor. He was really into writing about politics and not afraid to call politicos out when he smelled BS. I guess I got lucky being that I knew little about either at the time. I didn't know him real well but I have friends that he was close to. Most of those friends congregated at Kelly's Men's Shop in Tustin. They spoke of what a great friend they will miss dearly. They are fun bunch of cigar smoking, red wine & whiskey drinking, philosophers of politics and history. It was a nice gathering at Kelly's after the services of which, as George always ended his column........ "It's to Laugh."

I wanted to share his words as printed on the back of the program:

Self- Sacrifice

by George O. Stewart

I hope the repercussions of my life resound
Forever in the hearts of those
Whom I have moved,
Like the fading ripples caused
By the movement of my slowly sinking flesh.

I, who only sat with faith
And sacrificed my power to be kind,
Dare to want to linger here
Through that which I achieved.

In the drowning of my body die my thoughts,
Yet death of this so briefly thinking me
Means only that which I have done.

And so I'll die as I have lived,
Hoping that my dying cries
Will echo in some other
Hopeful, dying hearts than mine.Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-49011542700366307612008-01-10T12:34:00.000-08:002008-01-10T13:02:55.802-08:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvRaa1mElUtykdEPvu7xQehVSHTGa1XjR5vbu8WQwxW1Zox0PJH9Yr_QVd9hg__FsZjlRaGxwcGSMBPMHBOs7mfV2eK-0pcsZ9HOksCr5N9AZ84QmE1VIXEwUEHTJBDrYX3wIT/s400/Rudy+N+Reva.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5153956281573055330" />
Absentee ballots are being mailed out in California for the Feb.5th primary. I was wrong. I resolve to keep my blog updated this year. The next step is to actually get my website up to date. I'm pretty sure that there is a tech-conspiracy against me. I got a new phone and a new Garmin recently, both prove to be frustrating at best! My myspace locked me out just like my website did. My new myspace locked me out for a good month. W! I just spent the first week watching the History channel til 3am, sleeping til noon, and oblivious to the outside World. In otherwords, I've been sick in bed. I'm feeling much better finally, I just needed a week to recover from 2007. The Holidays really took it's toll on me. I stood still for a few minutes on the first and everything caught up with me. I didn't have time to relax at the end of 2007, so I guess it worked out ok:)

As for the TV aspect, at least Jay Leno came back on the air. The History channel is very interesting. A big asteriod will destroy the earth in 2029, the Universe started as less then an atom before expanding, the ice-age killed off the dinosaurs- caused by the asteriod that crashed into the earth thus causing fires that blocked out the sun, which in turn caused the ice-age. That about covers it. Oh, except now I need to buy that miracle saw that won't cut your fingers but will cut through pipes. And worm holes will be used for time travel....... as soon as we can find one, or prove that they exist..... by finding one?Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-57366565623216373252007-12-31T14:02:00.000-08:002007-12-31T14:07:03.685-08:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-dSEAIiTaIG5sp25zwowa7uqX_DvOXNl7Hg54Pe3RE4SxhLtGuRoOAV0flx84byAg2SphlX6tt25TjvieD2M2fAHY8z1fXn-SepWZjz0KW0ZR00wTe67g1vkjiJ_pLCSDX-O9/s320/IMG_0745.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150261909618826034" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbihe769MpjsymF9WnFZBavfxZF-rk-wKxoLX-XU7_SFAFC4TJcyxFz7p4VRm-omz1EmUpENT96akKUrf2kIxih5Ti3TNBUUYzCloP8c-vAkp08yOaHil3tUZ7YJbuOGUshagz/s320/IMG_0778.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150261913913793346" />
Happy New Year! I miss him everyday- still.

"Happy Birthday Dad! I know you're always watching over me somehow."

I just got back from Paris ( yeah, the one in France.) Surprised? Me too....... I thought I was going to Vegas. That will teach me not to nod off on an airplane! Okay, just kidding:) Anyway, for some reason I was not able to blog in Paris. Every time I switched blogger to the English version it just froze up. Weird.

I was certain I would not like Paris. I don't speak French, I didn't care to learn, and I certainly had enough encounters with French tourists here in the OC to not want to visit them in their own country. I couldn't have been more wrong! It was cold , rainy, windy, yet beautiful. I had dinner at the Eiffel tower. I stared in disbelief at the works of Van Gogh, Monet, and Cezanne at the Musee d'Orsay. I photographed the wondrous sites floating down the Seine river. Did you know that Notre-Dame isn't just a football team? The flying buttresses were amazing! I have to go back when it's warm to see more of the city, it's history, and the amazing architecture. I didn't get to visit the Louvre because the train workers went on strike. Apparently people don't want to work there, at least not over 35 hours a week, with 5 weeks minimum vacation, and not after they turn 50. Guess they just want to walk around the beautiful gardens and paint.

"Au revoir!"Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-69832178890235375072007-11-16T00:09:00.000-08:002007-11-16T00:19:53.054-08:00There's half a million people in France that decided to make it difficult for me to see the "Mona Lisa." Sarkosy has his hands full, and I just wanted to take in some culture. Whatever!
I'm certian this may be the worst jet-lag ever.

I did manage to get great pics of the tower:)

Much more later...Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-30819052949717593652007-11-09T23:59:00.000-08:002007-11-10T00:04:43.873-08:00HAPPY BIRTHDAY USMC!

Happy 232nd
Birthday to the United States Marine Corps!Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-14171068476603923162007-10-31T14:36:00.000-07:002007-10-31T14:48:14.937-07:00For those of you with a lot of free time, here's the link to a copy of the actual unsealed indictment of Corona & Gang:

http://www.ocblog.net/ocblog/files/carona_indictment_paper.pdfDevahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-71100050413617247852007-10-31T13:17:00.000-07:002007-10-31T14:27:40.420-07:00It was a long morning reading all the dirt on sheriff Corona in today's OC Register. What a mess! Talk about a scary Halloween day! How many black cats must have run across Corona's path while he was walking under ladders, holding an open umbrella inside!? He isn't stepping down without a fight apparently. Great, we are a County with a sheriff that had to take his wife and assumed long-term, married, girlfriend ( ok, the term was "mistress," whatever,)and turn themselves in to federal authorities this morning. Basically he needed to arrest himself! All this looks so bad, it doesn't help things with our local OCGOP either. I was an alternate on Central Committee for Tim Whiticare when the big endorsement flap was going on. One meeting they voted to not endorse Corona because of the once-upon-a-time rule of not endorsing one Republican over another in a primary. Then the next meeting they suspended the rules to go ahead and endorse Corona. Tim stood up against the endorsement, even filing a lawsuit against the OCGOP! He took a lot of heat for standing on principle. Now we can understand why Tim worked so hard to get Lt. Bill Hunt elected as Sheriff. I think he'd make an excellent choice to fill in if for some reason later down the road Corona feels the need to step down:)

Supervisor John Moorlach said Corona should resign. Actually John has had quite the year battling the sheriff's unions over pensions and retirement issues. Then his replacement for OC Tax Collector( I think he preferred Treasurer...again, whatever-I know who's name was on my property tax bills!!), Chris Street, came under fire for a bunch of crap I don't care to get into. Politics are such an interesting soap opera. I like John, he was an excellent speaker two years ago at our TARWF (Tustin Area Republican Women Federated)annual fundraiser. He knows what he's talking about and is trying to prevent us from becoming like San Diego, or "Enron by the Sea" as he put it.

Our speaker this year is Tom Del Beccaro, Vice Chair of CA Republican party. If you haven't been to his website yet, I suggest you check it out:

www.politicalvanguard.com

He has a book coming out "The New Conservative Paradigm" on Nov. 13th. Just in time for our fundraiser:) I've had the pleasure of hearing him speak on several occasions and he does a great job educating, explaining, and offering solutions on keeping our Republican party headed in the Right direction. You can request Tom as a speaker for your event through his website.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-63577923606342139712007-10-30T16:20:00.000-07:002007-10-30T17:09:55.695-07:00It's time to dive back into the political scene again. So much is going on here in Orange County. Sheriff Corona was indicted today on several charges including taking cash & gifts. I think his wife and girlfriend were as well? This is where I get to insert a huge "I TOLD YOU SO!" That's why I supported Lt.Bill Hunt for Sheriff in the last election. Bill is a great guy that deserves to be our Sheriff. We had a dart tournament fundraiser for him at my bar, he is such a down-to-earth guy. It was so disappointing on election night when the results came in. Corona immediately demoted Bill for speaking out against him! Now the bumper stickers make even more sense "Restore Integrity And Trust!"

The wealthy Don Haidl was funneling money into Corona's campaign. Haidl's son, Greg, is currently serving time for raping ( and they video-taped it... a new standard for stupidity,) a woman in 2002. It gets better, Haidl was an assistant sheriff to Corona. Oh, and another assistant, George Jaramillo, is sitting in jail after pleading guilty to federal tax evasion and mail fraud back in March. Corona fired him in 2004 because he was being investigated for among other things..... interfering with the sexual assault investigation involving Greg Haidl. Nice circle of friends huh?

I don't personally know any of the bad guys in this story. The only person I met was Don Haidl's personal Chef and assistant, Marshall ( at least that's what he said he was,) at Chat Noir. He saved me from being hit on by the old men at the bar:)

Is anyone working on the screenplay yet?Devahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00851756273337691917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692649.post-67903772440058007772007-10-28T20:25:00.000-07:002007-10-28T20:29:28.533-07:00The following are a few pics from Los Cabos, Mexico. The One & Only Palmilla resort is soooooo nice! The seagull and iguana came by every morning for fresh watermelon and pastries-really!
